Folic Acid, 60 tablets

Description

Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) belongs to the B-group vitamins.

• Folic acid is indicated for:
  Treatment and prevention of anemias caused by folic acid deficiency:
  – Macrocytic anemia, anemia and leukopenia (low white blood cell count) caused by
  medications and ionizing radiation;
  – Megaloblastic anemia;
  – Anemia caused by gastric or intestinal resection;
  – Sideroblastic anemia in elderly patients;
  – Anemias caused by small intestine disorders: sprue (a disease characterized by chronic diarrhea,
  anemia, tongue mucosa inflammation) and malabsorption syndrome (absorption disorder).
• Prevention of hereditary fetal malformations.
• For prevention of folate deficiency following prolonged treatment with folic acid antagonists, e.g., caused by administration of phenytoin, phenobarbital and primidone, methotrexate,
  sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim combination, antimalarials (medications for malaria treatment),
  laxatives (medications that induce bowel movements),
  oral contraceptives.
• Treatment and prevention of folic acid deficiency, including during pregnancy, lactation,
  renal dialysis, chronic hemolytic conditions (imbalanced production and destruction of red blood cells).
• Adjunctive treatment for depression and heightened anxiety syndrome.
• Treatment of cervical dysplasia.
• Treatment of male infertility caused by insufficient spermatogenesis (oligospermia).
• Treatment of polyneuritis and polyneuropathy, including alcohol-induced cases.

Folic acid should be taken orally, after meals. Alcohol consumption is not recommended during treatment.

What Folic Acid-BP Contains

The active substance is folic acid.
Each Folic Acid-BP 1 mg tablet contains 1 mg folic acid.
Each Folic Acid-BP 5 mg tablet contains 5 mg folic acid.
– Other components include: Magnesium stearate, crospovidone, copovidone, lactose monohydrate.
